Mark A. Edleson
President and CEO
Mr Edleson has over thirty years experience in finance, real estate development and the leisure industry in Southeast Asia. A graduate of Stanford University and formerly a Vice President of Citibank, he was a partner in a corporate financial advisory firm for ten years before concentrating on the hotel and leisure sectors. Mr. Edleson has been associated with a number of successful brands in the leisure industry. He was a founder of the Nusa Pacific Group that owns several well-regarded upscale hotel properties in Indonesia. He was also a founding partner of GHM Indonesia, a hotel management company operating a number of boutique hotels. He is President of the owning company of the Amanjiwo resort in Indonesia, as well as a founding partner of Mandara Spa Asia — the leading global operator of resort spas. Frederic Flageat-Simon
Managing Director and COO
Mr Simon graduated from Centre International de Glion, Switzerland. He has over 12 years experience in the hotel and tourism industry in Europe and Asia. He was one of Accor’s youngest General Managers when he opened the Novotel Lombok in 1996, and in 1998 was transferred to Malaysia to manage the Sofitel Palm Resort, one of the largest resorts in Asia with 350 rooms and 8 F&B outlets. Doris Goh
Vice President, Sales and Marketing
Ms. Goh has a distinguished career spanning more than 15 years in the hospitality industry including a nine-year tenure as Regional Director of Sales, ASEAN with the Mandarin Oriental Group. She was also the first Asian woman to serve as education chairperson at the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) in Asia as well as their representative on the Asia Pacific Council. A well respected professional, her work earned much recognition which bagged the ACTE President's Award in 2002 for her regional contributions. Besides establishing sales & marketing platforms for Alila, Ms Goh is also involved in technical services for the Group’s development projects to position and grow the ALiLA brand on a global scale. Arjan de Boer
Director of Technical Services
A Dutch National, Mr de Boer graduated from the Hotel Management School Leeuwarden, the Netherlands and has 9 years of Asian hotel experience in Thailand and Bali. Mr. De Boer served as General Manager of a privately owned and managed luxury resort in Phuket, Thailand. Thereafter, he joined Alila Ubud as Resident Manager and was appointed General Manager in mid-2003. He joined Alila Hotels and Resorts as Director of Technical Services in December 2005. Tim Hallett
Director of Technical Services
A hospitality veteran with 18 years in UK and Asia, Mr Hallett, a British national, has developed, pre-opened and operated 12 international hotels and golf resorts. He started his career with Europe’s leading golf & leisure operator, the Marriott Country Club Hotels and then was part of PGA Golf Management in UK and Asia. His career continued with CCA International in Hong Kong where he oversaw the development of their Asian golf business and managed their 5-Star Club in Guangzhou, China. Prior to joining Alila Hotels & Resorts, Mr. Hallett was Managing Director of Palm Resort where he successfully integrated the hotel and golf business and turned it into one of Asia’s leading golf-based leisure and MICE destinations. Genevieve Mckenzie
Director of Human Resources
Ms Mckenzie focuses on Alila recruitments and work processes for Alila Villas in the Maldives as well as development of human resource policy throughout the company. Prior to this, Genevieve was the Director of Human Resources at Mandara Spa Asia and Director of Operations at Mandara Spa Indonesia. Newton Siao
Director of Finance
Mr Siao ensures that best financial practices are in place and establishes both short and long term financial strategies and business plans for all properties managed by Alila Hotels and Resorts. He provides corporate support for financial management and audits existing Alila properties and new ones during pre-openings. Newton was previously the Resident Manager of Uma Ubud in Bali, Financial Controller of the Opus Hotel in Vancouver and Cocoa Island in the Maldives. As a Certified Public Accountant, Newton has 8 years of international audit and business advisory exposure with KPMG and Deloitte and Touche based in Canada, China and Spain prior to operating in the hospitality industry. Murlidhar Rao Viswavasu
Director of Operations, Alila Hotels and Resorts
Mr. Viswavasu was General Manager of Alila Jakarta from late 2004. Prior to joining Alila, he managed Point Grace, an exclusive retreat in the Caribbean and also spent several years in Asia with the Four Seasons and Mandarin Oriental group. Under his guidance, Alila Jakarta received the Adikarya Wisata Award from the Government of Jakarta for outstanding hospitality achievement. He left Alila Jakarta to assume responsibility for the pre-opening preparation of Alila Villas in the Maldives, and has subsequently been made Director of Operations for all Alila properties. Amanda Pummer
Regional General Manager, Alila Hotels and Resorts, Bali
Ms. Pummer has been with Alila Manggis and Alila Ubud in Bali since May 2002. She is now the Regional General Manager of Alila resorts in Bali. In addition to her role as General Manager of Alila Ubud, she will assist in global partnerships for Alila Living shops, strategies for Spa Alila and its potential and implementation throughout Alila properties. In her tenure at Alila, she has been very active in her support of the East Bali community and has spearheaded many of Alila’s conscious living programmes, winning eco-tourism awards in Bali. Our resorts in Bali were successfully certified as Green Globe Accommodation properties in May 2007. Taufik Rachman
Director of Global Sales
Mr Rachman spent more than 5 years at The Chedi Bandung, the very first GHM hotel, before joining the pre-opening team at Alila Jakarta in 2001, where he quickly progressed from Sales Manager to Director of Sales. He subsequently assumed the position of Regional Director of Sales for all of our hotels and resorts in Indonesia, including those in Bali. Mr Rachman’s new role now puts him in command of the sales and marketing strategies and global distribution for all Alila properties.
